Set shortcut for action dialog

Is there a standard way to show a dialog for setting a shortcut for a script or is everyone rolling their own?

I thought I saw a script or turorial around at some point but I cannot find it.

Edit: Just to clarify, I know how to set a shortcut via script, I was hoping there was a dialog already built in, or documented, to ask for the actual key combination and then set it.
